AI training for architects in Occitanie
AI training for architects in Occitanie: what the CROA has already done, which course to choose according to your practice, and how to fund it (FIFPL, OPCO).

On 16 May 2025, in the Tarn, architects from across the region spent a day handling artificial intelligence tools at the invitation of their regional Order: not a round table, but a six-hour Qualiopi training course. AI training for architects in Occitanie now has an institutional reality, a catalogue and precise funding routes.
Whether you practise in Toulouse, Montpellier, Nîmes, Perpignan or a rural commune, the question is not « should I train? » but « which course, for which practice, paid by whom? ».

What the CROA Occitanie has already done on AI
The Regional Council of the Order of Architects of Occitanie did not wait for the market. On 16 May 2025, it organised in the Tarn the third edition of its « Archi-Dating » devoted to AI and architecture, officially announced by the Order of Architects. CROA president, secretary general and a senator on site: AI has become for the profession a subject of continuing education, not of curiosity.
A day whose programme was a Qualiopi training course
At the heart of the event: a six-hour training course devoted to artificial intelligence and its impact on the architect's profession, charged 200 € excl. VAT and valid as continuing education. Educasium ran it, through Pablo Nastar, in the presence of Caroline Délas (president of the CROA Occitanie), Stéphane Albert (secretary general) and the Tarn senator, Marie-Lise Housseau. The day's unfolding is told in our article on AI training in Sorèze.
The continuing-education obligation gives it a framework
This interest does not come from nowhere: every architect on the register must justify 20 hours of training per year, i.e. 60 hours over the three-year period, including 14 hours of structured training, according to the Order of Architects. Each three-year period is specific to the architect, counted from their year of registration with the Order. The check became effective in 2026: a mention appears on the registration certificate of those who are not up to date. A six- or seven-hour AI training course counts within those 14 hours; the local arrangements are detailed in our guide to AI training for architects in the Tarn.
Which AI training course for which practice
There is no « the » best AI training course for architects in Occitanie: there is the one that matches what your practice produces. A studio that lives from renderings does not have the needs of a public-procurement agency, nor of a rural architect who must fill their order book.
| Training course | Typical profile | What it changes day to day | Typical funding |
|---|---|---|---|
| Midjourney Architectes | Architects, designers: sketches, renderings, atmospheres | Ideation and client visuals in hours | FIFPL / OPCO |
| Certifying Prompt Engineering | Agencies answering calls for tender (technical submissions, CCTP, DCE) | Structured assisted writing | OPCO / FIFPL |
| AI Marketing training | Independent architects, small structures | Content, prospecting, local visibility | FIFPL |
| General AI training | Managers wanting to equip the team | Common framework, cross-cutting use cases | OPCO |
The offer of AI training for architects in Toulouse and across the region remains hard to read because these four needs are mixed together in undifferentiated programmes.
If you live from images: Midjourney
The Midjourney Architectes training is aimed at practices whose visible output is graphic: moodboards, atmosphere renderings, competition sketches. It shortens the path between the idea and the visual you can present to a client; the panorama of AI tools for architects in 2026 completes the category.
If you live from writing: prompt engineering
A technical submission, a response to a call for tender, a CCTP: half of the workload of a public-procurement agency is writing. Prompt engineering applied to architecture consists in producing these texts with an AI without losing the structure required by the DCE or the project's argumentation. The value is in the method, not in the output.
If you live from clients: AI marketing
A rural architect rarely has a tool problem: they have a client-flow problem. The AI marketing training covers content production, local visibility and regularity of communication. It is the least spectacular use case, often the most profitable.

Funding the AI training according to your status
Funding does not depend on the programme, it depends on your status. Independent registered with the Order: the FIFPL, capped at 300 € per day and 900 € per year (2026 criteria), provided the training body is Qualiopi-certified. Agency employee: the branch's OPCO. The CPF, in this landscape, funds nothing.
Independent architect: the FIFPL, with two conditions to anticipate
For AI training funded by the FIFPL, an independent architect falls under their profession's criteria (NAF 7111Z): 300 € per day, 900 € per year, official 2026 FIFPL criteria. Two conditions: a Qualiopi-certified body (mandatory since 2022) and an application filed at the latest ten calendar days after the first day of training — beyond that, it is refused. The complete application is described in our article FIFPL and AI training.
Agency employee: your employer's OPCO
An agency employee does not fall under the FIFPL: their training goes through OPCO EP, the operator of the architecture branch mandated by the social partners of the collective agreement of architecture firms, via the employer's skills development plan. For AI training, construction industry employees have the same lever. Both mechanisms are explained in our OPCO and FIFPL funding guide, and a company case is covered in the article on AI training in Toulouse for the construction industry.
Why the CPF is not an option
It must be said clearly: the CPF does not fund these courses. They appear neither on the RNCP nor on the Répertoire spécifique, and the FIFPL excludes CPF-eligible courses from its funding. For these programmes, the channels are the FIFPL and the OPCO, nothing else.
The limits to know before you register
No AI training course solves everything, and saying so is part of the choice. Four limits, plainly.
A 100% online course: broad access, reduced funding ceiling
Educasium's Midjourney Architectes training is 100% online, which removes travel, whether from Perpignan or Montauban. On the FIFPL side, the fund's 2026 criteria cap e-learning at 50% of the daily criteria: the 300 € per day ceiling becomes 150 € at distance. That is not a reason to give up: it is an amount to factor in before filing the application.
Qualiopi certification does not amount to recognition by the Order
Qualiopi attests the quality of a training body's process. It constitutes neither an Order approval, nor a diploma, nor an RNCP title: the certificate of completion is not a professional certification. Its concrete value: justifying continuing-education hours with the Order and supporting the FIFPL application. Nothing more.
AI does not replace the architect's responsibility
A rendering generated in ten minutes remains a rendering the architect answers for. Professional ethics do not distinguish a document produced by AI from a document produced by hand: if a misleading visual or a dimensioning error ends up in a deliverable, it is the architect's name that is engaged. The training exists to teach how to verify what the tool produces.
One day is not enough
Six or seven hours give the basics and the method; upskilling then plays out through repeated practice, on real projects. A training course not followed by practice has a low return: it is the most frequent case of training taken and not used.
Frequently asked questions
Does a six-hour AI training course count towards my 20 annual hours?
Yes. Courses delivered by a training body fall within the 14 structured hours of the three-year obligation, rules published by the Order of Architects. The CROA Occitanie's day of 16 May 2025 was designed that way: a six-hour Qualiopi training course valid as continuing education. The certificate is declared in the architect's personal space before 31 March.
Does the FIFPL fund a 100% online course?
Yes, but with a reduced ceiling: for e-learning, FIFPL funding is limited to 50% of the daily criteria. With a 2026 ceiling of 300 € per day for architects (NAF 7111Z), a remote day is reimbursed up to 150 € maximum. The two conditions remain the same: a Qualiopi-certified body and an application filed at the latest ten calendar days after the first day of training.
I am employed in an agency: who funds my AI training?
Your employer, via the architecture branch's OPCO: OPCO EP, mandated by the social partners of the collective agreement of architecture firms. The training fits into the practice's skills development plan and in principle takes place during working time. The FIFPL, for its part, is reserved for independent professionals who contribute personally: an employee cannot use it.
Do you need technical prerequisites to train in AI in architecture?
No, in the sense that none of these courses requires knowing how to code. The tools used in architecture (image generation, assisted writing) are operated in natural language, by writing what you want to obtain. The real prerequisite is professional: knowing your architectural vocabulary, your project phases and your deliverables, because the quality of a prompt depends on the precision of what you know how to ask for.
Your next step
In Occitanie, the ecosystem is in place: the Order has opened the way, the 2026 FIFPL criteria are published. What remains is to choose the course that matches what your practice produces, and to assemble the funding application on time.
100% OPCO/FIFPL-fundable training. Qualiopi-certified programme.
